Hot Springs

Immerse yourself in the fine milky waters of Zao Onsen and enjoy a calm and soothing moment of relaxation.

Guests can enjoy two types of baths in the Jurin bathing area: the strongly acidic waters of Zao Onsen and a mildly alkaline Herston artificial hot spring for those who prefer a gentler bath.

Yamagata is home to many hot springs with long histories, and Zao stands out with a tradition spanning 1,900 years. Zao Onsen is regarded as one of the most historic hot springs not only in Yamagata Prefecture but in the entire Tohoku region.
Strongly acidic hot water is called a “natural beauty serum.” After bathing, you can enjoy the sensation of your skin feeling smooth and well-nourished.

Jurin-no-Yu

Enjoy the classic atmosphere and the traditional charm of the hot spring.
Opening the windows reveals a refreshing view of the surrounding trees, creating a setting that eases daily fatigue.
The milky-white water carries a gentle sulfur fragrance and provides a deeply satisfying bathing experience.

Kamoshika-no-Yu

This bath with an open-air hot spring was named after a moment when a Japanese serow was spotted among the trees.
Guests can relax comfortably in the hot spring while enjoying the scenic landscape and the refreshing breeze.

Asunaro-no-Yu

This alkaline artificial hot spring is created using pumped groundwater.
The bathing area includes a hinoki and stone tub, as well as a shallow tub suitable for half-body bathing.
The spacious washing area provides ample room, allowing guests to relax without concern for their surroundings.
The gentle alkaline water softly soothes skin that has been stimulated by the strongly acidic hot springs.
